Hay Bales in Field

I love being part of Adams-Columbia Electric because I believe in the co-op model: member-owned, locally governed, and built to serve the people who depend on it -- as opposed to a big utility model which strives to maximize profit for shareholders outside of our community.

Your Neighbor.
your voice.
Your CO-OP.

I'm Becki Clayborn, and I'm running for the District 7 seat on the Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative board because our co-op belongs to all of us, and your voice deserves a seat at the table.

Abstract Blue Design

I live in the Town of Westford near Beaver Dam, and like you, I'm a member of this co-op. I've seen firsthand what affordable, reliable electric service means to our rural way of life and I want to make sure it stays that way.

For over 30 years, I've worked to empower communities like ours to ensure decisions are made based on our priorities, not outsiders with different priorities. I know how energy systems work, I know how to ask hard questions, and I know how to get results. Now I want to put that experience to work for you.

Meet Becki

I grew up understanding that the land, the water, and the communities around us are worth protecting. That belief has guided my entire career.

I earned a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences with a focus in Policy and Economics from Purdue University. That education gave me a foundation in exactly the kinds of issues a co-op board deals with: energy regulation, rate structures, and the economics of keeping power affordable and reliable for rural families.

Over the past three decades, I've put that knowledge to work. I've built and led coalitions across the midwest and nationally, working alongside grassroots community members, county and city boards, state regulators, and federal lawmakers to pass and implement real energy policy. I don't just understand how energy decisions get made, I've helped make them.

Affordable and Reliable

The number one job of this board is to make sure the lights stay on and the rates stay fair. I will never lose sight of that.

I've spent my career analyzing energy systems and holding decision-makers accountable for outcomes that affect real families. On this board, I'll ask hard questions about contracts, costs, and infrastructure investments — the kind of questions that protect members from bill increases that didn't have to happen.

Affordability and reliability aren't things we inherit. They're things we have to defend, especially as outside pressures on our grid grow. I'll make sure they stay our north star.

Homegrown Energy for Members

Our co-op has an opportunity that big utilities don't -- we can invest in local, member-driven energy solutions that put money back in members' pockets rather than sending it elsewhere.

I want to explore what more Adams-Columbia can do to help members access home energy-efficiency upgrades and small-scale clean-energy generation. Done right, these programs reduce individual bills, reduce strain on the grid, and keep energy dollars circulating in our community. They also make our co-op more resilient when outside demand spikes.

I've helped communities navigate exactly these kinds of opportunities for decades. I know what works, I'm willing to learn even more, and I know what questions to ask before we commit.
